TEACHING EXPERTISE

I have worked for over 10 years as a specialist first-year undergraduate teacher and across undergraduate programs in nutrition and dietetics, public health and health promotiobn, health science and biomedicine.

In my current teaching role, I am Course Director for the Bachelor of Health Sciences Degrees, and Unit Chair of HBS107 (Understanding Health), managing and teaching a core unit for first-year students that come from multiple health-related courses, where students broadly learn about health from a determinants perspective, locally and globally. I manage the delivery of the unit across all Deakin campuses - Geelong, Burwood, Warrnambool and online (off campus), and work closely with the NIKERII team in their specialist delivery programs. My unit design interests are to foster high engagement modules to meet learning and course outcomes. I formerly led the first-year transition from 12-week mode to 4-week block mode for nutrition and food units at Victoria University as part of the university transition to 'VU Block Model'.

I am available for supervision for honours and postgraduate students - Masters and PhD and enquiries are welcome from interested students or potential co-supervisors. I have also mentored students for several years through formal mentoring programs and enjoy providing support for career development and guidance.
