BIO
Dr. Asher Winter is an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI), Deakin University and has expertise in the design, control, and optimisation of dynamic systems and biomechanics analysis. Dr. Winter is a recent PhD graduate, researching the optimal design of motion simulators, specifically Human Centrifuge Systems.
Research includes: modelling and motion analysis of the vehicles being replicated by the system, kinematic and dynamic analysis and mathematical modelling of the system to effectively meet motion requirements, multi-objective configurational design optimisation to improve system performance, and development and implementation of optimal control algorithms for accurate system control and mitigation of undesired motion effects.
Dr. Winter currently provides support for mechatronics systems simulation and optimisation and biomechanics analysis on autonomous and intelligent systems projects within IISRI, Deakin University. Such projects include the biomechanics analysis of drivers operating tram controllers, the design and optimisation of a soft and compliant end-effector for an autonomous cleaning robot, design and rapid-prototyping of components for the autonomous vehicles project with the Australian Army, and medical research with Deakin University/IISRI’s high-G centrifuge system.
