DrHasti Abbasi

I am a Senior Lecturer in Learning Futures whose work is centred on academic development: how academics grow, make sense of their practice, and build sustainable teaching and scholarly identities over time. My academic identity is grounded in relational and reflective leadership. I work alongside educators to support confidence, agency, and professional growth, and to create institutional conditions where teaching, scholarship, and recognition are integrated rather than experienced as fragmented or transactional.

My contribution is characterised by leadership across a connected portfolio of university-wide academic development initiatives. I lead the Reflective Peer Teaching Development Program, the Teaching and Learning Conference, and Practice Spotlight sessions, and coordinate the Vice-Chancellor’s and Australian Awards for University Teaching. These initiatives are intentionally designed as an integrated academic development ecosystem rather than standalone activities. They support educators to reflect on practice, learn with peers, develop scholarly teaching narratives, and navigate pathways of recognition and leadership across career stages. This work has strengthened engagement in professional learning, increased participation in teaching recognition, and supported academics across disciplines to position teaching as a core academic strength.
