BIO

Mohammad Omar Faruk is affiliated with the Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI) at Deakin University. His research at IISRI focuses on pioneering advancements in deep learning, image analysis, and multimodal segmentation techniques. He has co-authored impactful studies developing state-of-the-art computational frameworks for interpreting complex datasets and designing innovative architectures for instance and semantic segmentation and data fusion. He is also working on building lightweight models for flexible computation of deep learning models. His interdisciplinary work bridges theoretical insights and real-world applications, contributing to the growing field of artificial intelligence​.

Mohammad Omar Faruk is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh. His expertise also lies in statistical methods, data mining, biostatistics, econometrics, and time series analysis. NSTU's Department of Statistics, established in 2016, offers comprehensive undergraduate programs emphasizing both theoretical and computational aspects of the field. Omar Faruk contributes to a dynamic academic environment, supported by advanced facilities such as a dedicated computer lab equipped with statistical software.

As a faculty member, he played a key role in preparing students to meet global demands, fostering skills that bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications. His commitment to education and research underscores the department’s mission to develop proficient statisticians capable of serving nationally and internationally​.
