BIO
Fatima Iftikhar is a design educator, researcher, and creative specialist in textile innovation, printmaking, curriculum design, and experiential learning. She is currently a PhD candidate at Deakin University, researching city- and place-based, interdisciplinary approaches in higher education. She brings over five years of higher education teaching experience in art and design, textiles, design thinking, and critical thinking strategies. She has also supervised design thesis projects and developed numerous courses spanning design, print, drawing, and interior design.
Fatima has presented her research at international conferences, including the 1st International Design Conference (PIFD), and published chapters with Springer's Creative Textile Industry. As creative lead of her brainchild, Altair, she also brings hands-on industry expertise in handcrafted textile production. She has also worked closely with the Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Pakistan, to train artisans, and has exhibited her work across Lahore, Canada, and beyond.
