BIO

I have been a nurse for 33 years,  10 of them as an Advanced Practitioner. In my role, evidence based practice is essential, but as clinicans we do not always have enough time to undertake or participate in research ourselves. I use my research training to try to understand the significance of research data in clinical practice and help my colleagues with its application as part of ensuring safe and effective patient care. I have worked in different clinical settings and now trying to bridge the clinical-academic gap by conducting research to inform equitable healthcare for under-represented and disadvantaged population groups.

My Masters research looked at The Predictive Validity of Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessment Tools in Intensive Care Unit Patients

My current research is an Exploration of Black African and Caribbean Women's Perceptions of and Participation in Muscle Strength Training During the Menopause Transition.
