DrAnthony Niu

I am a Lecturer in Health Economics at Deakin University and a Lecturer in Economics at Monash University. I completed my PhD in Health Economics and Applied Econometrics at Monash University in 2017, where I examined the determinants and consequences of childhood and workplace injuries using longitudinal data and advanced econometric methods.

My research lies at the intersection of health, labour, and development economics, with a strong focus on generating evidence that can inform public policy and improve social outcomes. As an applied econometrician, I specialise in the analysis of longitudinal datasets to investigate how health, education, migration, and labour market experiences shape wellbeing across the life course.

Alongside my research, I am an experienced educator with over a decade of teaching experience across Monash University, the University of Melbourne, and Deakin University. I have taught a wide range of subjects in health economics, economics, econometrics, and business statistics, and have extensive experience coordinating large undergraduate and postgraduate units. My teaching philosophy emphasises practical applications, evidence-based learning, and helping students develop the analytical skills needed to address real-world economic and health policy challenges.
