BIO

Professor Andy Chui obtained his PhD in Finance from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Before joining the Deakin Business School in August 2024, he had been a faculty member at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) for thirty-two years. He is the founding Director of the flagship programme, MSc in Business and Management, at PolyU Business School (PBS) and was honoured with the PBS Fellow award in 2022. He was a finalist for the 2022 Spängler/IQAM award for the Best Investments Paper in Review of Finance. He has been the principal investigator of three research projects funded by the Hong Kong SAR’s Research Grants Council.

 

Professor Chui is best known for being one of the pioneers in cultural finance. He introduced “Individualism” to the empirical asset pricing literature and is considered one of the top five impactful authors in cultural finance (Goodell et al. 2023). Most of his papers are highly cited, and he is ranked in the top four percent of economists worldwide on Euclidian citations by RePEc/IDEAS.
