BIO

Dr Nguyen was awarded her doctorate in Applied Biology and Biotechnology from RMIT University in 2024. Her expertise spans molecular biology, drug discovery, drug repurpusing and targeted drug delivery, with experience in both in vitro and in vivo models across a range of diseases, including melanoma, age-related macular degeneration, and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). Her work also encompasses in silico, in vitro, and in vivo pharmacokinetic modelling, as well as investigations into the mechanisms of drug action. She has published in leading journals, including ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Food Bioscience, and Pharmaceutics. Her most recent article on retinal drug delivery, published in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, attracted substantial national and international media attention, generating 197 media items and reaching an estimated audience of 72 million, according to an RMIT media report in 2025. She was awarded the Australia Awards Scholarship for both her Master’s and PhD studies, has received presentation awards at international conferences, and has secured more than $175,000 in research funding from ERASMUS+, DFAT Australia, industry partners, and Deakin University. Her current research focuses on applying omics approaches to elucidate the pathophysiology of ME/CFS and identify candidates for drug repurposing.
