BIO

Darren Scammell joins the Faculty of Business and Law in the Deakin Business School as a Professor of Practice on 28 January 2025.  Darren was an ASIC registered Audit Partner for over 25  years and has 40 years’ experience with Grant Thornton and KPMG. He retired from Grant Thornton as partner in December 2024.  Darren is a specialist in the broking, banking, insurance, superannuation, property and funds management industries, with extensive experience across Australia and the UK.  He was the National Head of Financial Services for Grant Thornton from 2021 to 2024. Darren is also a specialist in Sustainability Reporting. His qualifications include Past President (2016) and Fellow of CAANZ, Fellow Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (2016), Graduate Australia Institute of Company Directors (2018), Bachelor of Economics (Monash - 1985), Senior Associate FINSIA, Williamson Fellow (2003)
