BIO

Abi Thirumanickam is a certified practising speech pathologist and senior lecturer of Speech Pathology at the School of Health and Social Development. Abi specialises in interdisciplinary, community-focused, inclusive research practices, leading and conducting research co-designed with consumers and industry partners. Her work emphasises capacity building through accessible, cost-effective means to enhance inclusion and active participation for individuals with communication difficulties, including those with complex communication needs and users of AAC.

 

Abi's area of interest in higher education includes co-designing assessment and learning with students, viewing assessment both as and for learning, and discovering innovative and interactive methods to enhance student participation in authentic learning experiences.

 

She serves on various advisory committees and holds an executive role within the South Australian branch of Speech Pathology Australia.
