TEACHING EXPERTISE

Laura’s teaching approach integrates current clinical practice with theory, using simulation, case-based learning, flipped classrooms, and hands-on practical activities to support the development of confident, practice-ready graduates. She is particularly committed to supporting diverse and neurodivergent learners through multi-modal teaching strategies and scaffolded feedback.

Her teaching is informed by culturally responsive pedagogy, including the 8 Aboriginal Ways of Learning and Yarning as reflective practice, developed in collaboration with Indigenous academic partners. Laura places strong emphasis on student wellbeing, reflective practice, and professional identity formation, and is known for creating supportive learning environments that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and ethical clinical reasoning.

She maintains close partnerships with health services, community organisations, and industry to ensure teaching remains relevant, ethical, and responsive to contemporary speech pathology practice.
