Ashley Wu

Ashley Wu is an Associate Teaching Fellow at Deakin Law School and leads lectures and seminars for Evidence, Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.

Ashley brings extensive industry experience as an advocate. Having served as a sworn police officer and police prosecutor with Victoria Police, she appeared daily in the Magistrates’ Court, handling plea hearings, bail applications, and contested hearings. She also worked in legal advisory roles, providing guidance on police operations and disclosure obligations. Ashley was responsible for delivering legal training to police prosecutors and police lawyers, and was actively involved in running moots. Currently Ashley works as a prosecutor with another government department, and appears regularly on behalf of various regulators in the Magistrates' Court and the County Court. 

Before joining Victoria Police, Ashley was the founder and Managing Director of a tutoring business, delivering English training to international students. Having navigated the challenges of studying law in a second language, she understands the difficulties international students may face and warmly encourages students to approach her for confidential support in their law studies.

Ashley is a proud Deakin alumna, having completed her Bachelor of Laws at Deakin University. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Police Prosecution from Victoria Police and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from St John’s. Ashley is a future bar reader at the Victorian Bar in September 2026.
