MsElla Sexton

Ella Sexton is a Lecturer in Psychology in the Faculty of Health/School of Psychology. She is a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Board-approved supervisor at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne Australia. She has worked as a clinician, project manager and clinician-researcher and is committed to implementing evidence-based practice into clinical practice and ensuring people with cancer and their loved ones have access to high quality psychological services.

Ella has lead the development of the first hospital-based dedicated psychological service for carers of people with cancer in Australia. This program was recognised as a 2024 finalist in the Victorian Public Healthcare Award. Ella also has expertise in psychological prehabilitation, establishing novel prehabilitation models of care for people with head and neck cancer prior to radiotherapy and prior to surgery. Ella's clinical and research contributions have been recognised as an invited speaker at national and international conferences. Ella commenced an appointment with the Faculty of Health/School of Psychology teaching into the Master/Doctorate of Clinical Psychology in 2025. She lectures in the areas of Health Psychology and Mental Health. She values the education and training experiences in the clinical psychology and feels priviledged to contribute to high quality learning experiences and supporting the future psychology workforce.
