DrAnita Lawrence

I am a Registered Nutritionist with 30 years of experience managing nutrition research inside and outside of academia. My early research career was in the area of food/diet and mood, daytime sleepiness, cognitive performance and mental health, collaborating with work psychologists, psychiatrists, sleep scientists, physiologists and gastroenterologists. These short-term and long-term dietary intervention studies resulted in nine research papers that are still being cited and being included in leading academic books in the area.

Between 1998 and 2019, I held a variety of senior nutrition science roles within agri-food organisations firstly in the UK, then in Australia. As Program Manager – Nutrition Research and Science for more than a decade I was internationally recognised for my expertise in initiating and managing successful multi-million-dollar research collaborations between the food industry and universities using my global-networks. After that, I spent six years as a part-time Senior Lecturer in Human Nutrition in the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Now at IPAN, I am focusing on my research, using my experience and expertise to undertake collaborative research projects related to the transition to healthy and more environmentally sustainable diets.
