Dr Amir Sobhani, brings over 22 years of experience in road safety, transport, and advanced data analytics. His career spans senior leadership and technical roles across government, industry, and academia, with a strong focus on research, evaluation, and evidence-based decision-making.
Amir has held positions as Research Scholar and Research Fellow at Monash University, Senior Research Scientist at ARRB, and Data & Evaluation Lead, Insights & Evaluation Lead, and Data & Insights Lead at the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP). These roles have provided him with extensive expertise in advanced statistical modelling, road safety data analysis, evaluation frameworks, and evidence-based policy development.
His work spans complex transportation and road safety data analysis, the development of predictive and explanatory models, and the evaluation of critical road safety interventions. Amir has led numerous research initiatives focused on improving Safe System implementation, including investigating crash risk factors, assessing infrastructure treatments, and developing robust evaluation methodologies. His expertise enables him to translate data insights into actionable strategies that enhance road safety outcomes.
As a technical leader, project developer, and expert peer reviewer, Amir has spearheaded comprehensive analyses to support road safety strategies, policies, and planning. His work ensures that safety initiatives are grounded in rigorous data analysis, helping shape effective, evidence-based road safety investments, enforcement strategies, and infrastructure improvements.
With a strong foundation in statistical modelling, evaluation techniques, and Safe System principles, Amir continues to drive innovative, cost-effective, and forward-thinking approaches to road safety engineering, ensuring meaningful contributions to policy, program, and project development.
