BIO

Lisa Spagnolo is an Associate Professor at Deakin Law School, having previously taught at Macquarie and Monash Universities. She was educated at Deakin (BCom and LLB) and Monash (PhD) and practiced at Minter Ellison. Lisa specializes in international sales law, domestic and comparative contract law, choice of law, Islamic finance, geographical indications, property law and advocacy. Her works have been cited by judges and government reports including the England and Wales Law Commission, Hong Kong Department of Justice and Australian Attorney-General’s Department. She was expert advisor to the New York State Bar Association, Rapporteur for CISG Advisory Council, and has consulted for law firms and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). Lisa was elected a member of the CISG Advisory Council in 2024, was Chief Investigator on an ARC Linkage Grant, is the CLOUT CISG National Correspondent for Australia, and co-founder and fellow of the UNCITRAL Coordinating Committee for Australia (UNCCA).
