BIO

Dr Yong Xiang is a Deakin Distinguished Professor at the School of Information Technology, Deakin University, Australia. He is also the Director of Deakin Trustworthy Intelligent Computing Lab. He was the Associate Head of School (Research) (2013-2018), the Director of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Research Cluster (2013-2019), the Director of Data to Intelligence Research Centre (2019-2020), and the Director of Deakin Univ.-Southwest Univ. Joint Research Centre on Big Data (2019-2021).

Professor Xiang has obtained many research grants, including 5 Discovery Projects (4 as Lead CI) and 4 Linkage Projects (3 as Lead CI) from the Australian Research Council (ARC). He has published 7 authored books, over 310 refereed journal articles, and over 130 conference papers. Some of his research results have been commercialised and used in practice.

 

Professor Xiang is the Associate Editor of IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, and Computer Standards and Interfaces. He was the Senior Area Editor of IEEE Signal Processing Letters and the Associate Editor of IEEE Access, and served as Guest Editor for several journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Multimedia, etc. He has been invited to give keynote speeches and chair committees in many international conferences, and review papers for numerous international journals and conferences.

 

Professor Xiang has been an Assessor for various ARC funding schemes since 2012 and an Assessor for the Swiss National Science Foundation since 2022. He was a member of the ARC Research Evaluation Committee for Mathematics, Information and Computing Sciences to evaluate Excellence in Research for Australia in 2018 (ERA 2018).
