BIO

Jane is a Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education whose work spans motivation and behavioural science, equity, and intervention methodology. Over a 20-year career across secondary and tertiary education in Australia and the UK, she has built expertise across teaching, school leadership, and educational research.

Jane began her career as a psychology teacher in schools across Victoria and England, teaching VCE and IB Psychology. She has held a series of leadership roles ranging from boarding house leader, year-level and house coordinator to senior executive leadership positions. In the tertiary sector, she has coordinated and taught initial teacher education units across four universities, spanning wellbeing, educational psychology, pedagogy, diversity and inclusion, and leadership frameworks.

Jane's research examines how psychosocial, evidence-based interventions foster motivation, engagement, and participation among secondary school students using a pre-registered randomised controlled trial delivered across six Victorian schools. She is committed to research that translates into classroom practice focusing on solving problems.
