BIO

Manolya is an experienced senior government lawyer for the Commonwealth, prosecutor, academic and writer, who regularly appears as a solicitor advocate in criminal, quasi-criminal, civil enforcement and regulatory matters at all stages of proceedings. She has expanded her practice to administrative law matters, defending Agency decisions on review and providing specialist legal services on complex and sensitive issues for the relevant Agency, executive stakeholders and the Minister. She has managed numerous highly sensitive cases of public importance on behalf of the government. Her practice reflects a strong commitment to justice and the effective management of complex legal issues.

 

Manolya lectures and teaches various law subjects at tertiary level both at Higher Education and Vocational Education including Principles of Criminal Law, Evidence and Criminal Procedure and Advocacy. She has also taught several Civil Law subjects.

 

She is also a Supervising Lawyer at Leo Cussen Centre for Law, mentoring law graduates with their assessments in the Practical Legal Training program (Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice).

 

Beyond her legal practice, Manolya is an active member of the Law Institute of Victoria. She is currently the Committee Chair of the Editorial Committee (previously the Deputy Chair) and is responsible for leading the Committee’s members as well as curating, writing, sourcing and editing engaging and informative content for the Young Lawyers Blog and the Young Lawyers column of the Law Institute Journal. Through a diverse range of articles, think pieces and interviews, the committee aims to provide valuable insights and perspectives that reasonate with young lawyers.

 

Manolya contributes to the Children chapter in Bourke's Criminal Law Victoria, written by Dr. Felicity Gerry KC. Further, Manolya is the Headnote Reporter for Criminal Law Reports at Thomson Reuters.
