DrAshleigh Thompson

Dr Thompson has been a successful instance and subject coordinator of 10 different subjects, while teaching into several others, across two institutions. Her teaching philosophy is centred around the belief that students greatly benefit from being active participants in the learning experience. As an educator, she recognises that each student has unique life experiences and valuable insights that will enrich the learning experiences of others, and considers the learning process a true partnership, or co-creation process. Consistent with this philosophy, she is committed to encouraging students to actively share their own knowledge and perspectives with others as often as possible and creates an environment where students feel safe and respected to do so.

She regularly engages in reflective practice and continuous improvement to develop innovative forms of teaching practice, assessment tasks and feedback, and learning resources that have been successful in enhancing students’ learning experiences and overall subject satisfaction. Ashleigh's approach to teaching is also driven by ensuring that students have constant opportunities to establish links between theory and practice. As a result, she endeavours to make her teaching as applied as possible by providing students with practical or industry-based scenarios that relate to the theoretical concepts they are learning about.
