BIO

Md Sazal Miah received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2018, and the M.Eng. degree from the Asian Institute of Technology, Pathum Thani, Thailand, in 2022. He is currently completing the Ph.D. degree in Smart Power Systems Engineering at Federation University Australia, VIC, Australia. His doctoral research focuses on enhanced power system planning through transmission–distribution interface modeling, aggregated distributed energy resources, load flexibility, and active distribution network support for the upstream grid.

 
Prior to commencing his Ph.D., he worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Green University of Bangladesh, and later as a Research Assistant at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh. During his doctoral studies, he has served as a Sessional Academic at Federation University Australia, teaching undergraduate and graduate units in Electrical Demand Forecasting and Management, Power System Protection, Power System Analysis, and Microgrid and Energy Storage.
 
Mr. Miah is currently a Research Assistant with the School of Engineering at Deakin University, Geelong, VIC, Australia. In this role, he is involved in the project “Electric Modification of Heavy Vehicles for Low-Emission Mining,” funded by the Australian Government’s Trailblazer Universities Program in collaboration with Xcel Tech. Alongside his research role, he also teaches undergraduate units in control systems. His research interests include power system planning and stability, transmission–distribution coordination, distributed energy resources, renewable energy integration, active distribution networks, ancillary services, energy storage systems, electric vehicles, and smart grid applications. He has authored and co-authored several journal and conference papers in these areas and has served as a reviewer for international journals in power and energy systems.
