Fan is a health science researcher specialising in data science. His distinctive expertise is in the realm of big data management, linkage, analysis, and interpretation. Fan is adept in both traditional statistical analysis and machine learning. His research areas span health services research, including stroke studies using linked hospital data, cancer research focusing on adverse events with statewide and registry data, health economics studies concerning health utility scores using longitudinal cohort data and genomic testing, clinical epidemiology studies on child health based on genetic, survey, and registry data, and maternal health using cohort data.
