RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr Chen's research interests lie at the intersection of molecular modelling, materials physics and chemistry, and energy materials. She focuses on understanding and designing solid and liquid electrolytes for next-generation lithium and sodium metal batteries. By combining atomistic simulations with multiscale modelling approaches, her work aims to uncover the fundamental structure–property relationships that govern electrolyte performance and stability, guiding the rational design of advanced materials for high-energy-density energy storage systems. Dr Chen is also passionate about advancing future computational methods, leading the development of automated molecular dynamics simulation workflows and tools, with particular interest in developing machine-learning molecular dynamics and reactive interface modelling.
