BIO

Kyra Fabianke is a Lecturer in the Management Discipline at Deakin Business School. She has an interdisciplinary background in Human Geography and Global Studies and holds a PhD in Sustainable Business Transformation. Kyra is an active member of the International Association for Business & Society (IABS) and teaches across sustainable business practice & corporate sustainability management, entrepreneurship, and small business management. Similarly, her research sits at the intersection of business, society, and sustainability, focusing on sustainable business model innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises. 

 

Her research interests include: 

 

  • Sustainable business models & sustainable business model innovation  
  • Sustainable entrepreneurship 
  • Small and medium-sized enterprise sustainability 
  • Organisational change for sustainability 
  • Appreciative Inquiry, action research, and positive psychology in organisations and organisational research
  • The role of businesses in sustainability transitions 
  • Place-based approaches to sustainability challenges 
  • Human-nature relationships and more-than-human perspectives on sustainability 
  • Education for sustainable development & responsible management education 

 

Before joining Deakin, Kyra completed her PhD - for which she was awarded the Mollie Holman Medal as well as the Faculty of Arts John Rickard Prize for Best PhD Thesis - at Monash University and served as an Assistant Lecturer with the Monash Sustainable Development Institute.   

 

Prior to academia, she worked as a Corporate Responsibility Consultant across the private, government, and NGO sectors. Kyra is also certified as a Trainer, Coach, and Consultant (New Work) under ISO 17024 - a foundation she enjoys bringing into both her research and the classroom.
