BIO

Nicole Bruges is a teaching and research academic. Nicole has over 12 years experience working in health promotion/public health roles in various settings including not for profit, community womens health and local government. She draws on her wealth of experience from the sector to inform her teaching and create relevant, authentic learning tasks for students. She is a highly skilled educator of both undergraduate and post-graduate students with over 15 years experience in the higher education sector.

Nicole is currently completing her PhD exploring how local governments are addressing climate change and health using a systems thinking approach within their municipal public health and wellbeing plans. Nicole has a strong passion for researching the relationship between human health, determinants and the environment. She has research experience in qualitative study designs.

Nicole is the Health, Nature & Sustainability Stream Leader for Bachelor of Health Sciences. She is a active member of the Health Nature and Sustainability Research Group at Deakin University. Nicole is also a member of the Institute for Health Transformation - Determinants group.
