MrsSyeda Um E Laila Naqvi

Hi I am Laila, a graduate researcher in first year of her PhD at school of Education, Faculty of Arts Education, supported by the Deakin Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPRS). My doctoral research, supervised by Dr. Arif Kabir and Associate Professor Tebeje Molla, examines how globally influenced quality assurance policy is recontextualised as it flows across federal, provincial, and institutional governance levels in Pakistan's higher education system. Drawing on Ball's critical policy sociology and multi-level governance theory, my work explores how actor discourses and governance structures shape the differential enactment of the same policy mandate across structurally different institutional contexts. Apart from this I am also a Casual Research Assistant in the School of Education.

I have a publication record of 10 peer-reviewed articles in education, including work in Scopus Q1, and have editorial experience across three Higher Education Commision of Pakistan-recognised peer-reviewed journals. I have delivered research methodology training in collaboration with UNICEF and the Punjab Economics Research Institute, and hold expertise in qualitative research, discourse analysis, NVivo, and bibliometric methods. Prior to joining Deakin, I worked as a university lecturer and research associate in Pakistan, teaching across educational leadership, research methodology, and foundations of education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have also conducted several research and reference management trainings as an Elsevier certified Mendeley advisor.
