DrXinyue Zhang

Xinyue Zhang is a Lecturer in Information Systems (IS) and Business Analytics at Deakin Business School. She received her PhD from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Her research focuses on responsible digital innovation, with particular interests in designing and implementing digital technologies that create sustainable social impact for underserved communities. Her work spans disability inclusion, rural healthcare, AI-enabled companionship, and community development. She primarily employs Design Science Research and qualitative case study methods, collaborating closely with organisations and communities to co-design and evaluate innovative digital solutions for real-world societal challenges.

Her research has been published in leading international journals, including the European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS) and Disability & Society, as well as at leading IS conferences. Her work received the Best Short Paper Award at PACIS 2023. She serves as a reviewer for leading IS journals, including the EJIS, Information Systems Journal, Information & Management, and multiple premier international conferences.

In teaching, Xinyue teaches IS, design thinking, and AI-related subjects. Her teaching integrates emerging technologies such as AI and Virtual Reality (VR) with real-world industry and societal challenges, helping students develop both technical capabilities and critical thinking for leveraging technologies to address real-world problems. She welcomes opportunities to collaborate with industry and community partners to co-design impactful learning experiences and engage students in addressing authentic challenges through technologies.
