DrLena Molnar

Lena Molnar is a sociologist with a doctorate in criminology, whose main research interests have focused on: prevention of gender-based violence, social change, urban transformation, creative methodologies, youth labour, and affect in health systems. Her expertise has contributed to studies about gentrification, violence prevention, social media behavioural change, sexual safety, disability policy, and hospitality work. Lena has a particular interest in broader structural analyses and applied research that connect theory with community outcomes. She has spent over a decade working in community organisations as a volunteer, practitioner and leader to sustain building evidence into action.

Her contributions have been published in The Conversation, Junkee Media, the British Journal of Sociology, Youth, and in a monograph out through Manchester University Press, among other outlets and journals.

Lena is currently a research fellow at Deakin University, working on the ARC-funded project in partnership with Monash University:  Addressing gender-based violence in volatile and polarising times.
