BIO

Sophie Butler is an Australian cultural heritage specialist with over 25 years of experience in the public and private sectors. Her expertise centres on resolving heritage management issues in development and conservation, understanding how these challenges intersect with communities, and helping clients assess and manage impacts to, and opportunities for, their cultural heritage assets. In recent years, her focus has shifted toward facilitating community participation in heritage processes, recognising the vital role cultural heritage plays in community wellbeing.

She is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the relationship between railway heritage and community wellbeing.
