RESEARCH INTERESTS
My big questions are what ideas have sought to change the world? Where did these ideas come from? What have been the successes and failures of these ideas? Why have they been successful/why have failed? I believe aspects of a Marxist approach provide a way to approach these questions, but I also draw on a variety of other thinkers and traditions. Answering these questions involves a close and empathetic attention to what people have thought but also an understanding of why things did not turn out as they planned.
