RESEARCH INTERESTS
Research focus:
Dr Tze Chuan Ang’s research focuses on factors that explain the cross-section of stock returns. Specifically, he examines the efficiencies in marketing, production, etc. in predicting stock returns in the presence of information uncertainty and investors’ behavioural biases. He also studies the roles of equity-lending and short-selling in the valuation of stocks and corporate votes.
Current research:
More recently, intrigued by the developments in sustainable finance, Dr Ang has been studying the impact of ESG and socioeconomic and political issues on short-term financing. Aspire to maintain an open dialogue between finance academics and practitioners in Australia, Dr Ang also actively investigates various aspects of the Australian financial markets, mainly about stock returns. His current projects revolve around the stock price behaviours around dividend payments.
Publications and presentations:
Dr Ang’s research has been published in leading finance journals (ABDC A*), such as the Review of Asset Pricing Studies, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Empirical Finance, amongst others. His academic papers have been presented at leading universities and international accounting and finance conferences worldwide, such as the Financial Management Association (FMA) Meeting, China International Conference in Finance (CICF), and American Accounting Association (AAA) Meeting, amongst others.
Impact and influence:
Throughout the years, Dr Ang has been invited to review over 50 academic papers across 17 premier journals (ABDC A*), including Management Science and Journal of Banking and Finance, in the areas of short-selling, trade credit, cash holdings, empirical asset-pricing (anomalies), etc. His work has gained academic citations and media attention.
Research supervisions
Dr Ang is also dedicated to supervising and supporting postgraduate and doctoral students. His supervised students won awards and were successfully placed in universities and industries around the world.
