BIO

Sarah has come from the responding to violence against women sector where she has extensive direct service experience in therapeutic support, crisis response and group work. Sarah has also provided group supervision across the women's health and youth work sector in Victoria. Sarah's PhD explored the work that feminist mothers do in raising their sons as a pathway for gendered violence prevention and in understanding how their feminist practice interacts with raising sons in ways that encoruage diverse masculinities. Sarah has gone on to support Honours and current PhD projects that consider the imapct of feminist parenting for boys and young men. A key interest for Sarah is developing the feild of matricentric feminism as it relates to the social work profession and social work practice with people who do motherwork. Sarah is calling this matricentric feminist social work and has recently published a book chapter that considers what a framework for matricnetric feminist social work might look like.

As a mid-career researcher Sarah is also interested in what supports hope, purpose and moitvation for people at midway points in their career who are transitioning and evolving into their next phase of research and practice interests.
