BIO

Bidur Kafle has extensive experience in teaching structural engineering courses in various positions throughout his academic career. Bidur's research interest ranges from earthquake engineeing to structural dynamics, sustainable materials in structures, use of recycled materails in various form of structural components, pavement structures. Currently, Bidur's research focus is on developing green or low carbon concrete without using cement and using industrial by-product e.g. fly ash, slag etc on it (i.e. geopolymer concrete). Bidur is exploring to develop green concrete by replacing natural aggregrates with various waste materials e.g. recycled concrete aggregrates, waste rubber tyres etc. Bidur also works in timber engineering where his focus is to produce engineered timber products, utilisation of end-of-life timber. Bidur is associated with following research groups within School of Engineering:

Engineered Timber Structures

Sustainable Composite Materials and Structures

Geotechnics and Infrastructures
