BIO
Dr Rutherford (PhD, Australian National University) is a specialist in media
and literary studies, with a particular focus on children and youth. She
practices and supervises in projects involving textual analysis of television,
literary and multiplatform texts. She also practices empirical social research
methods and critical institutional analysis. At Deakin, she teaches into the
Major Sequence in Children's Literature, Children's Literature and Literary
Studies Honours, and the Masters of Writing and Literature.
Leonie Rutherford (PhD, Australian National University) is an expert in media
with a special focus on children and youth. She currently convenes the
Teenagers Reading and Digital Practices Research Group in the Faculty of Arts
and Education, Deakin University. Her research interest includes media
practices of children and youth, television studies, multiplatform production,
audience research, and influences of media on children's digital literacy,
health, and educational outcomes.
