BIO

Colin Bell is discipline lead for Public Health Medicine in the Doctor of Medicine course at Deakin University and co-head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Obesity Prevention at the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition.

Prof Bell obtained a PhD in Community Health from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and has an MSc and BSc (Hons) in Human Nutrition from the University of Otago, New Zealand. He completed post-doctoral studies on the China Health and Nutrition Survey at the Carolina Population Center, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Colin is recognised for his expertise in obesity, nutrition and chronic disease prevention and has worked on a number of successful population and community-based programs in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

Prof Bell is chair of the Foundation 61 board, a clinical advisor on public health for GMHBA and a member of the Public Health Association of Australia.
