BIO

Julie Pasco is Professor of Epidemiology at Deakin University, in the School
of Medicine. She is the Director of the Epi-Centre for Healthy Ageing and
Theme Leader for Population Health in the Institute for Mental and Physical
Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT), located at Barwon Health in Geelong.

of Medicine. She is the Director of the Epi-Centre for Healthy Ageing and
Theme Leader for Population Health in the Institute for Mental and Physical
Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT), located at Barwon Health in Geelong.
Prof Pasco is an epidemiologist, with a background in biochemistry, physiology
and education. Her population-based research focuses on understanding the
progression of chronic metabolic and musculoskeletal disorders and the nexus
between physical and mental health. She leads several population-based studies
including the long-running Geelong Osteoporosis Study (GOS), the Vitamin D in
Pregnancy (VIP) study and the Ageing Chronic Disease and Injury (ACDI) study.
An important component of her research is to facilitate knowledge transfer
from research into practice and into the community.
