BIO

Professor Steve Fraser is an accredited exercise physiologist (AEP) and clinical exercise researcher. He is passionate about exercise for the prevention and management of common chronic diseases, particularly cancer. He has considerable experience in the development and implementation of clinical exercise intervention trials, with a focus on integrating AEPs in clinical settings to improve health outcomes in individuals with chronic disease. Prof Fraser has published >85 manuscripts in relation to clinical exercise. He has supervised 12 PhD students and 20 Honours students with 3 PhD and 4 Honours students winning best thesis awards.
He holds a number of leadership positions including:
Discipline Lead Clinical Exercise,
Co-lead, Exercise and Nutrition for Cancer Research Group, Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition
Deputy Course Director Graduate Research, in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, 
He has previously served as Director of the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology. Beyond Deakin, Prof Fraser is a national leader in Exercise and Sports Science holding a number of leadership positions including 
-Elected Board Director, Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA)
-Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) Exercise Group Executive
In 2019 he was recognised as an ESSA Fellow for his service to ESSA and its professions.
He has previously served as
-Chair of the ESSA Accreditation Council
-Chair of the ESSA Standards and Accreditation Governance committee
-Vice President of the Council for Heads of Exercise Sport and Movement Science
-Chair Victorian Clinical Exercise Educators Group
