    My OLT-funded project Demystifying Grammar: Rethinking Language Awareness for Teacher Education has led to the formulation of a strategy to incorporate carefully targeted language-related pedagogy into pre-service teacher courses. A new core unit, Pedagogic Grammar was also developed for the Master of TESOL.

    The above research has also informed language-awareness workshops I frequently provide for several of Deakins global experience programmes (China, Malaysia, Vanuatu, Nepal, Chile), which I am now asked to provide on a continuing basis.

    leading initiatives for visiting lecturers from partnership universities

    leading successful Deakin Global Education Programs for pre-service teachers to China and Malaysia, and Chile. During the Chile experience I developed local research collaborations which will contribute to a symposium at Deakin in late 2018. My input to the GEP design also informed a successful application for National Colombo Plan funding for the Malaysia programs in 2015 and 2017.

    Seven PhD completions to date. I am also currently principal supervisor for four current PhD students and I co-supervise five more.

    As Chief Editor of Australias national TESOL journal since 2016, I have overseen the transition to online open access.
