BIO

I am an academic and intensive care clinical nurse specialist with extensive ICU experience and a strong focus on clinical nursing education. My career has included ICU leadership, emergency nursing experience, and work as a Remote Area Nurse in the Northern Territory. These varied experiences have strengthened my interest in healthcare communication, education, and supporting clinicians to practise safely and confidently in complex and high-pressure healthcare environments.

At Deakin University, I contribute to student learning, research, and professional development within the School of Nursing. I am particularly interested in innovative teaching practices and continually seek new ways to design creative, engaging learning experiences, including the use of online escape rooms to enhance learner engagement in online environments. I hold postgraduate qualifications in critical care nursing and higher education, including a Diploma in Critical Care Nursing, Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am currently in the final semester of my Honours program, with a focus on curiosity in nursing.

My broader professional interests include healthcare communication, clinical education, leadership, and governance. I have undertaken the Company Directors Course in governance and served for seven years on the board of Collingwood Toy Library, including three years as President. These experiences have further shaped my interest in collaborative leadership, effective communication, and supporting organisations and individuals to work towards meaningful goals.

I am currently involved in additional research activities, including a scoping review that has been accepted as a poster presentation at the ACCN conference in the second half of 2026. I welcome opportunities to collaborate, mentor, and support students and peers in delivering safe, person-centred care through education, leadership, research, and effective communication.
