MsSimone Tyrell

Simone Tyrell has over 13 years’ experience in Higher Education, beginning her career as a librarian. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Graduate Certificate in Knowledge and Information Management from Monash University, and a Graduate Diploma in Learning Design from the University of Technology Sydney.

Simone’s early roles included reference librarian and Digital Literacy Programs Librarian in the Faculty of Business and Law at Deakin University. She later transitioned into a Learning Designer role with Deakin Learning Futures, where she now works in the Business and Law Learning Innovation team.

As project lead, Simone collaborated with the faculty to embed digital literacy into the Bachelor of Commerce curriculum through the award-winning Professional Literacy Suite. This initiative deepened her expertise in learning design, curriculum and pedagogy, and led to several accolades, including the ASCILITE Innovation Award (2018), Deakin Teaching and Learning Award (2019), and an AAUT Citation (2020). The work was also featured as an exemplar in the 2020 Horizon Report.

Simone was also seconded as a Research Fellow with Deakin’s central Digital Learning Futures team, contributing to the Deakin Design Pathways. She is a Senior Fellow of the HEA and an active mentor and assessor in Deakin’s accredited program.
