BIO

Professor Blake is the Head of School for Deakin University’s School of Education, served as President of the Victorian Council of Deans of Education (VCDE), Accreditation Chair for the Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has extensive experience in research and program development across a range of educational fields, including applied and partnership-based approaches to senior schooling, teacher education and higher education. Professor Blake’s recent research includes two Australian Council of Research (ARC) grants investigating partnerships between schools and industry to strengthen young people’s educational outcomes, and pathways beyond school. His current work includes the use of trauma-informed approaches to education, immersive learning environments to improve learning and educational transformations, and multiple projects undertaken in partnership with the Victorian Department of Education to strengthen the supply of high performing teachers for schools and early childhood education contexts.
