RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research is concerned with understanding the relationship between the built environment and health; and aims to inform housing and neighbourhood design that better support wellbeing. I am particularly interested in residents’ lived experiences of the design of their homes and hence I use qualitative methodologies, having developed specific expertise in photo-narrative methods. However, as my work also spans disciplinary boundaries, cross-disciplinary approaches are key to much of my research. Such approaches are not only essential in understanding the complexity of relationships between the built environment and health, but also in advancing policy and practice.
