BIO
Prof. Paul Francis's research is focused on the development of highly sensitive luminescence-based detection systems for important clinical diagnostic, food science and forensic science applications. He leads a large program of research that encompasses Honours, PhD and postdoctoral research projects within several major streams of investigation, conducted within multiple laboratories at Deakin University and/or external research facilities. Prof. Francis's research in analytical chemistry and molecular luminescence spectroscopy has been recognised through honours such as the Doreen Clark Medal (2015) and the Robert Cattrall Medal (2007) from the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Division of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI); the Victoria Young Tall Poppy Science Award (2010) from the Australian Institute of Policy and Science; and the Gordon F. Kirkbright Bursary Award (2005) from the Association of British Spectroscopists.
