BIO

Head of School.

Professor Crawford is an Alfred Deakin Professor and holds a Personal Chair.
He is Head of the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. Professor
Crawford has more than 40 years' of experience in public health research. His
research has focused on the role of nutrition and physical activity in chronic
disease prevention and management; development of behaviour change strategies
to improve health; population strategies to promote healthy eating and
physical activity.

As a co-founder of Deakin Unviersity's Institute for Physical Activity and
Nutrition (IPAN), Professor Crawford recognised the social and long-term
health implications of a society that eats more and moves less than any other
time in history.

Professor Crawford has conducted an extensive program of research
investigating the underlying drivers of eating and physical activity
behaviours, and of strategies to promote healthy eating and increase activity
across the population. He has a detailed understanding of psychological,
social and environmental determinants of behaviour.
