TEACHING EXPERTISE
Fiona teaches across 2 undergraduate and 3 post graduate degrees and across all 3 of Deakin’s campuses. Burwood, Warrnambool, Waurn Ponds and online.
Teaching responsibilities Primary arts education teaching and learning on the Warrnambool and Geelong campuses.
Early childhood music and movement: teaching and learning on the Geelong and Burwood campuses in both undergraduate and and post graduate courses.
Music education teaching and learning to off-campus students.
In 2020 Fiona used a suite of online applications including SoundTrap, Sample Bot and Acapella to enable participation of students in audio collaborations
In 2022 Fiona Developed a Series of Orff Orchestrated pieces for Primary schools to use in the wake of COVID restrictions
In 2023 Fiona developed a series of digital audio and visual glossaries for students to engage with in order to learn the embodied languages of music, media, drama and dance.
In 2024 Fiona was a key researcher and learning designer in the Transition to Univeristy Project.
In 2025 Fiona was invited to provide leadership and advice on the Tranformation of Assessment project.
Fiona's Teaching has continued to evolve through continuing research involving hundreds of people from all over the world, working in a wide range of different musical contexts and cultures.
