BIO

Associate Professor Alison Booth is Deputy Head of the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She provides leadership across teaching and learning, workforce strategy, governance, and academic development, with a strong focus on strengthening educational quality, academic standards, and staff capability. Over more than 16 years at Deakin, she has held  leadership roles including Associate Head of School (Teaching and Learning) and Course Director, shaping curriculum, accreditation, assessment reform, graduate employability and student success across nutrition and dietetics programs. 

 

Alison has contributed to university-wide initiatives that influence teaching quality and academic practice, including graduate attributes, assessment reform, workforce design, academic career pathways and workload modelling. She supports academic career progression, leadership development and workforce capability.

 

A Registered Nutritionist, Alison leads a nationally and internationally recognised program of research in school food environments, food literacy, nutrition education and health promotion. Her work informs policy, practice and education and contributes to improving food and nutrition outcomes for children and communities through collaborations with schools, community organisations, professional societies and researchers globally.

 

Alison also provides national disciplinary leadership through the Nutrition Society of Australia, where she has led initiatives that strengthen mentoring, professional recognition and capacity building for emerging nutrition researchers and practitioners.
