RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am a member of the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, with a research focus on the impact of ageing and chronic conditions (e.g., pain) on cognitive performance, well-being, and inflammatory biomarkers, and the ability of exercise to improve these outcomes. My expertise spans various populations, including older adults, clinical patients, and military personnel. With extensive experience leading research programs across multiple categories and holding post-doctoral roles at Deakin University and Monash University, I have effectively disseminated my research through high-quality publications, national and international presentations, and reports for stakeholders. Actively engaging with the community, I enjoy delivering presentations on exercise benefits for older adults and have contributed to media outreach that has reached millions. Additionally, I supervise Higher Degree by Research, including Masters students, and have had great success in guiding Honours students to excellent outcomes and achievements. I am also a member of the Physical Activity and Nutrition for Cognitive and Mental Health (IPAN) research group, which focuses on informing and developing optimal nutrition and physical activity strategies to optimise mental health and cognitive function across the lifespan.
