BIO

Helen is Australian Research Council DECRA Research Fellow and Lecturer in Philosophy working in phenomenology, critical philosophy of race, and feminist philosophy. She received her PhD in Philosophy from Stony Brook University (USA), and is author of The Habits of Racism (Lexington Books, 2017) and co-editor of Philosophies of difference: nature, racism, and sexual difference (Routledge, 2019). In addition to her book, which examined the ways racism is enacted and experienced through bodily habituations, Helen has written on topics such as racialised embodiment and temporalities, antiracist activism, white privilege and white supremacy, and diasporic bilingualism. Her current research project explores peri-phenomenological accounts of racialised alienation and the practices and tensions of diasporic home-making.
