BIO
Dr Anwar Hosen received his PhD in Computational Intelligence from Deakin University in 2015. He simulates complex systems to reveal how they behave under uncertainty, bringing deeper insights that enable decision-makers to act confidently in unpredictable environments. With a career focused on understanding the dynamic behaviour of real-world operations, he applies computational modelling to explore “what-if” scenarios, quantify uncertainty, and forecast system performance across domains including elections, transport, infrastructure, energy, health, and smart manufacturing. His expertise spans discrete event simulation, agent-based modelling, uncertainty quantification, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and predictive analytics. His work transforms raw data into actionable insights, enabling both public and private sectors to navigate complexity with confidence.
Dr Hosen has secured over $5.6 million in external research funding through strong collaborations with academic colleagues, government agencies, and industry partners. He has held key leadership roles, serving as both Chief Investigator and Lead Chief Investigator on multiple nationally significant projects with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) and state-based electoral commission. His leadership in these high-trust collaborations has delivered evidence-based insights that have informed policy innovation and improved operational efficiency in complex public systems. He also contributed to the Downer CRC project by developing intelligent predictive maintenance systems for rail operations, implemented in the Downer Train DNA platform.
Dr Hosen is committed to research translation, capacity building, and collaborative innovation. He has authored high-quality publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, contributing to the advancement of data-driven decision-making across a wide range of sectors.
